In early April, Land Between the Lakes and the Woodlands Nature Station will offer plenty of opportunities for families to enjoy some group activities — targeting Spring Break, some guided hiking and kayaking trips, an ever-popular “Homeschool Day,” and more.
“A Sensational Spring Break” is planned for April 2-10, with themed programs, crafts, games and hikes on the docket.
April is also Homeschool Month at the Nature Station, with the Eighth Annual “Homeschool Day” scheduled for April 29.
Programs such as “Bioluminescence Boogie” and “SLIME!” will highlight “A Sensational Spring Break.” A pair of programs for the Homeschool Spring Learning Series — “Native Bees” on April 14 and a “Wildflower Wander Hike” on April 16 — come in the middle of the month. “Animal Treat Baskets” and “Sunday Funday: Rabbit Playtime” fittingly arrive on April 17, near Easter. An “Earth Day” Sunset Kayak Trip is planned for April 22, and the “Homeschool Day” theme will be “Forest FUN-damentals.”
LBL Interpretive Naturalist Marissa Lindstrom noted that “with blooms of wildflowers dotting Hematite Lake, wildlife becoming more active and the many programs and activities offered at the Nature Station, the next few weeks present the perfect opportunity to get outside and have fun.”
The Nature Station in LBL is open daily from 10 AM until 5 PM. Admission is $7 for adults 18-and-older, $5 for children ages 5-17 and free for children 4-and-under. Animal-themed programs are available daily, and included in the cost of admission.
