Multiple fire departments were called to a large forest fire in Northern Todd County Tuesday that is now contained Wednesday morning.
Todd County Emergency Manager Daniel Smith says approximately 40 acres have burned after a fire started when a tree fell on a power line around noon Tuesday near the Jonah Wilson Road and Lake Malone area.
Firefighters from Clifty, Allegre, Sharon Grove, Lewisburg, and Dunmore were called to the scene around 4:30 pm Tuesday to fight the fire in a steep heavily wooded terrain.
Smith says no homes or other structures have been damaged and they do not have any that are in immediate danger. The Kentucky Division of Forestry has the fire contained but smoke and some small fires may still be seen in the area.
