Michael Crowder

A traffic stop on Richard Street in Hopkinsville led to drug charges for two men Tuesday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped 48-year-old Michael Crowder of Crofton for his vehicle not having a registration plate and during the stop, he was found to not have a license or insurance.

A law enforcement K9 reportedly alerted on the vehicle and after a search suspected meth, cocaine, and Fentanyl were found along with syringes, a scale, and two meth pipes.

A passenger in the vehicle, 45-year-old Tremayne Welch of Hopkinsville gave law enforcement false identifying information and was found to have outstanding warrants for contempt of court and probation violation.

Crowder was arrested and charged with no registration plates, failure to wear a seatbelt, no driver’s license, failure to maintain required insurance, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), possession of meth, and possession of cocaine. Welch was also arrested and charged with failure to wear a seatbelt, theft of identity, and possession of meth 3rd or more offenses.
