Carolyn Killebrew Sowell, 81, of Hopkinsville, died at 6:02 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at her residence.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Flat Lick Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of LaFayette, she was born October 30, 1941, the daughter of the late Lucian Thomas Killebrew and Gladys Ellis Killebrew. She was a retired school secretary having worked at North Drive Middle School, Booker T, and Attucks. She was a member of Living Hope Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Troy Sowell; and her brother: Hulan Killebrew.
Survivors include her sons: Troy Lynn (Janet) Sowell and Roger Sowell both of Hopkinsville, her grandchildren: Shirley Ann (Jeremy) Martin and Nathan Ryan (Whitley) Sowell; and her great-grandchildren: Whit Cayce Martin, London Raelyn Martin, Porter Ellis Martin, and Olivia Blake Sowell.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Flat Lick Cemetery Fund.
