Eugene Bass, 94, of Hopkinsville passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Saint Thomas West in Nashville. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with burial to follow in McKinney Cemetery. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 7, 2023. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mr. Bass was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on August 16, 1928, the son of the late John Henry and Carless Ebling Bass. He was a farmer and self-employed mechanic, a “Gene” of all trades. Eugene was a member of Bluff Springs Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Lula Belle “MiMi” Bass in 2021; his brothers, Johnnie Jr., Marvin, and Frank Bass; his sister, Marie Davis.
Survivors include his boys, Andy Bass and his wife Becky of Hopkinsville and Tim Bass and his wife Karen of Hopkinsville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
