A resolution may be near for a Hopkinsville man charged with fetal homicide and the assault of the mother.

Eric Bearden, the public defender for 20-year-old Tyquarius Stubbs, told Circuit Judge John Atkins during Wednesday morning’s session of Christian County Circuit Court that a plea deal in the case could be near.

Stubbs is charged with second-degree attempted fetal homicide, second-degree assault, first-degree strangulation, intimidating a participant in a legal process, and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.

He was arrested by Hopkinsville Police last August after he allegedly got into an argument over the father of his ex-girlfriend’s baby. He then reportedly hit the woman in the face with a belt, choked her with his hands, and then punched and kicked her while she was 16 weeks pregnant.

Stubbs allegedly took her phone when she tried to call for police and blocked the exit door with a table. She was reportedly able to get out of the home and go to her car as he chased her and threatened her before she was able to drive away.
