The proposed plans for a Buc-ees Travel Center at Exit 1 in Clarksville have been filed with the Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Planning Commission.

According to Clarksville Now plans call for a 120 pump gas station and 77,000 square foot building to be constructed off Interstate 24 at Exit 1. The plans submitted by developers Kinley-Horn indicate the business will be located on a 47 acre tract of land at the corner or Trenton Road and Tylertown Road where the former O’Conner’s Irish Pub was located, which is now the home of Gary the Guardrail. There will be entrances from Tylertown and Copperhead Roads, with plans calling for the development of another road in the future.

The plan indicates there will be 650 parking places that will include handicap, RV/bus, and electric vehicle charging stations.

Although plans have been submitted, Buc-ees has not confirmed a travel center will be located at the site. Buc-ees was rumored to be considering a location off Exit 89 in Oak Grove, with company officials reportedly changing to the Clarksville location in 2022.

Buc-ees recently broke ground for a new location near Smiths Gove along Interstate 65 in Kentucky. That will be the second location in the bluegrass state, with the first location along Interstate 75 near Richmond.
