A Thursday evidentiary hearing has been scheduled in the murder case of a Hopkinsville set to go to trial on Monday.
During Wednesday afternoon action in Christian County Circuit Court before Judge Andrew Self, Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Bolen requested a continuance because lab testing done at the state police lab has still not produced a report for the attorneys.
Grimes is charged with murder in connection to the death of Calvin Buckner in July 2021. Hopkinsville Police said Grimes shot Buckner in the chest at a party on Hazel Street.
Grimes’ attorney Ted Shouse questioned the timing of the continuance motion less than a week before the trial was set to begin and added there was no need to test the gun since his client was never seen with it.
