Attorney for Soldier Charged with Infant’s Death Requests More Time to Look at Evidence

8-2-heck

The defense attorney for the Fort Campbell soldier accused of the death of an infant last year informed the court Wednesday that he needs more time to look over evidence in the case.

Michael Thompson, the attorney for Alexander Heck, told Judge Andrew Self that he still needs some more time to peruse the discovery from the Commonwealth.

Heck is charged with the death of a 15-month-old child. Police said the child, who was not related to Heck, died of blunt force trauma.

Heck’s attorney Michael Thompson said the child’s mother was living with Heck and his wife at the time of the child’s death. Thompson said it was Heck who found the child unresponsive and called for help. Bolen said last month that Heck was the only adult in the home when the child was found unresponsive.

Heck was granted a bond motion earlier this year under the condition he be restricted to post and check in regularly with his commanding officer. He is scheduled to be back in court on September 27.
