As we head into the weekend, Weather Edge forecaster David Powell says an afternoon chance for showers and storms returns as warmer and more humid air returns for a few days.
Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be between 89 and 91 degrees, with heat indices inching closer to 100.
Powell adds by Monday, an increasing chance for showers and storms exists before a system brings the temperatures to the upper 70s Tuesday.
Through the first nine days of August, Trigg County has received 4.1 inches of rain at its Kentucky Mesonet site. Meanwhile, Christian County has received 3.3 inches, with Caldwell County seeing about the same.
