Video Game Argument Apparent Trigger In Shooting Incident

An argument between a Hopkinsville man and woman on Denzil Drive in Hopkinsville led to a shot being fired Wednesday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say 26-year-old Hector Benloss and his girlfriend were arguing over a video game when he hit her with his fist and she pulled a knife on him and he fired a shot through a door frame.

Benloss was later located on Fort Campbell Boulevard in a traffic stop and taken into custody. Police say the gun used in the shooting was found in the trunk and had been reported stolen out of Springfield, Tennessee.

Benloss was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana, and using restricted ammunition during a felony.
