Man Charged With DUI After Cadiz Crash

Police have released more information about a wreck on US 68 in Trigg County that sent two people to the hospital Friday night.

Cadiz Police say a westbound car collided with another westbound vehicle driven by 58-year-old Douglas Wells of Hopkinsville that was driving slowly near the intersection of Hammond Lake Road.

Wells and his passenger had to be extricated from their vehicle by the Trigg County Rescue Team before they were taken by ambulance to Trigg County Hospital for injuries.

Police say Wells had slurred speech and stated he had been drinking. He was reportedly found to have a DUI-suspended license, no insurance, and no registration plate for the vehicle.

Wells was cited to court on charges of DUI fourth or more offenses, driving on a DUI-suspended license third offense, failure to maintain required insurance second offense, failure to produce an insurance card, and no registration receipt.

The crash happened just before 6 p.m.
