Officer And Neighbor Credited With Extinguishing House Fire And Saving Pets

An Oak Grove home was damaged in a fire but quick thinking by a police officer and a neighbor led to the house and pets being saved Saturday.

Oak Grove Deputy Fire Chief Bill Laux says they were called for a fire on the exterior of the home on Keith Avenue and found the fire extinguished by Dante Daniel who lives in the neighborhood and the pets were saved from the home by Oak Grove Police Officer Daniel Bruce.

Firefighters checked the home for any fire that may have extended into the rest of the structure and helped the homeowner secure the house.

Laux says without the quick thinking of Daniel and Bruce the situation would have been very different. The cause of the fire was unknown.
