Two Organizations Receiving Checks From Hoptown Half Marathon-5-K

Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation will present donations to two community organizations as the result of the annual Half-Marathon and 5-K that was held in October.

Parks and Recreation Marketing and Events Coordinator Rachel Sanders says the check presentation will take place at the Thomas Street Recreation Center on Monday, November 20th, at 10 A.M. $6,000 from the events will be presented to Sanctuary Inc. and Christian County Rescue Team. Checks will also be presented to the winners of the Water Station/Cheer Team Competition.

Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent Toby Hudson says the department is pleased to be able to present this year’s proceeds to our two charitable beneficiaries, Sanctuary and Christian County Rescue Team. He adds both organizations do so much good for the Hopkinsville community and they are proud to support them.

The Water Station/Cheer Team Competition voting took place through an online survey sent directly to all race participants. The Competition is sponsored by the Batter Capital of the World. The winners were determined by popular vote and are as follows:

5K Winner- Sanctuary, Inc.

Hoptown Half Marathon:

1st place- Hopkinsville Lions Club

2nd place- Pennyroyal Center

3rd place- Hopkinsville Christian County Public Library

Since its inception in 2019, the Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K, presented by Planters Bank and Jennie Stuart Health, has donated the proceeds of each race to a Hopkinsville community organization. This year’s donations bring the total amount given over the past five races to $63,000.
