A Hopkinsville man was charged with DUI and fleeing from law enforcement after a traffic stop on West 7th Street Thursday night.
Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop 34-year-old Alvaro Lopez for swerving back and forth then nearly hitting a guardrail.
He reportedly failed to stop right away and continued on turning onto North Drive then Thomas Street before coming to a stop. Police say he had slurred speech and could not maintain his balance.
He was arrested and charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police and DUI.
