Man Charged With Fleeing From Law Enforcement

A man was charged with assaulting an officer after jumping out of a window and fleeing from them at Woodland Heights on Greenville Road Saturday.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say they were attempting to locate 34-year-old Darius Johnson who had previously been trespassed from the complex and he jumped out a window on the second story and then fled on foot.

He reportedly offered to give some children $100 if they did not tell law enforcement he was hiding in their apartment.

Deputies say he resisted arrest and assaulted an officer as they took him into custody.

He was reportedly found to have a bag containing a brown substance. Johnson was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, third-degree criminal mischief, alcohol intoxication in a public place, resisting arrest, first-degree criminal trespass, third-degree assault of a police officer, second-degree burglary, and first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified).
