The defense attorney for an Oak Grove man charged with murder said he plans to file a mental illness defense for his client.
Doug Moore is the counsel for Rudolfo Amaya, who is accused of the March 5 shooting death of 43-year-old Dante Welch along New Gritton Avenue in Oak Grove.
Moore informed the court during a Wednesday morning appearance that he planned to file three motions with the court on behalf of his client.

Oak Grove Police said Amaya shot Welch following a dispute over loud music. The two were neighbors. Police also reported that Welch was sitting in a vehicle when he was shot twice in the head by Amaya, with Welch’s child in the back seat.
