Ruth Nichols, 92, of Princeton

Ruth Isabelle Adams Nichols, 92, of Princeton, Kentucky died on January 16th, 2024 at Princeton Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Ruth was the daughter of the late Maurice Leon Adams and Georgia Ann Cook Adams. She was a graduate of Butler High School. Ruth was known for her cooking and loved entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and was a talented seamstress. Ruth always sought a challenge whether it was painting, refinishing furniture, or reupholstering a chair. Ruth enjoyed working at Newsom’s Old Mill Store for many years. She had a passion for genealogy and spent many hours researching her family tree as well as volunteering numerous hours at the Glenn Martin Genealogy Research Center. Through her efforts, she received the Kentucky Genealogical Regional Award for preservation of records.

Ruth was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Caldwell County Historical Society and Homemakers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, James Hoy Nichols, and her two brothers, James E. Adams and Donald R. Adams.

She is survived by her son Mark Wood Nichols (Cathy Nichols) of Cadiz, Kentucky; her daughter Mitzi Nichols Perkins (Dr. Don L. Perkins) of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; her grand-daughters Meredith Perkins Stevenson (Justyn Stevenson) of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Dr. Mackenzie Perkins Denton (Dr. Jason Denton) of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and Mallory Perkins Massie (Robert Massie) of Pembroke, Kentucky; her great grand-daughters Mattie Claire Denton and Maren Isabelle Denton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pennyroyal Hospice 220 Burley Avenue, Hopkinsville KY 42240 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Visitation for Ruth Adams Nichols will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM with Bro. Reed Shepard officiating. Burial to follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
