A Christian County man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for one count of possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute it, one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
Per court documents, Morgan Hancock, Jr., 46-year-old from Hopkinsville, was also sentenced to five years of supervised release.
U.S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett of the Western District of Kentucky, Special Agent in Charge J. Todd Scott of the DEA Louisville Field Division, and Hopkinsville Police Chief Jason Newby made the announcement.
Hancock was prohibited from possessing a firearm because he had previously been convicted of a felony on September 18, 2009, in Christian Circuit Court, on first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance – cocaine.
There is no parole in the federal system.
