Effective February 5, Christian County Public Schools officials have announced the appointment of Andrew Goins to serve as interim principal at Hopkinsville Middle School.
A graduate of Trigg County High School, he most recently served as the assistant principal at Hopkinsville High School, and he will report directly to CCPS Superintendent Chris Bentzel.
Bentzel said Goins’ leadership and work with Freshman Academy at Hopkinsville High served as an excellent example for CCPS students and staff over the last two years, and leadership is confident he will bring the same level of excellence to HMS.
Toting 14 years of education experience before taking this role, Goins first joined the teaching staff at HHS in 2013. He’s also taught at Heritage Christian Academy and Paducah Tilghman High School, and transitioned to assistant principal at Freedom Elementary in 2019 before returning to HHS as assistant principal to serve as the lead for Freshman Academy.
In a written statement, Goins said he’s excited to have the opportunity to lead HMS, and that he was honored and privileged to work alongside tremendous students, staff and families. He also noted that he’s grateful for the opportunity to help students find academic success, while helping them strive to meet their potential.
A graduate of Murray State University, Goins holds two master’s degrees from the University of the Cumberlands.
He and his wife, Amanda, have one daughter: Alivia.
