Evidence Exploration Continues in Sharp Street Murder Case

One of the three people charged in the shooting death of a Hopkinsville man over two years ago saw his case continued in Christian County Circuit Court on Wednesday as his attorney goes over new evidence.

Dekorian Daniel is charged with complicity to murder in the death of Adrian Acree, who was shot multiple times in the middle of Sharp Street in October of 2021.

Daniel’s attorney Olivia Adams had previously filed a motion to try the case jointly with co-defendant Cortez Hairston Jr., who Hopkinsville Police said was the triggerman in Acree’s death.

Adams asked Circuit Judge John Atkins to continue the case for a week for her to see if the new evidence would affect her motion.

click to download audioHairston is charged with murder, while another co-defendant, Jaila Sherrod, recently pled guilty to facilitation of murder and tampering with physical evidence to her role with the Commonwealth recommending 10 years in prison.

Daniel will be back in court next Wednesday while Hairston is scheduled to stand trial on March 18.
