A Watseka, Illinois woman was killed and a man was injured in a single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 24 in Christian County on Friday afternoon.
Christian County Sheriff’s deputies said 85-year-old Roland Heuton fell asleep while getting onto I-24 eastbound from Pennyrile Parkway and ran off the road. Heuton’s SUV traveled between 50 and 100 yards down an embankment and struck a rock ditch.
Roland Heuton’s passenger — 84-year-old Ardith Heuton — was treated at the scene and died while en route to the hospital. Roland Heuton was also injured in the crash and was treated and transported by Hopkinsville EMS to Jennie Stuart Health for his injuries.
The names of everyone involved in the crash were released after the next of kin were notified.
