August Trial Date Set in Sharp Street Murder Case

An August trial date has been set for Cortez Hairston Jr., the Hopkinsville man accused in the 2021 shooting death of Adrian Acree in October of 2021.

Judge John Atkins set aside the week of August 5 on the court calendar for Hairston’s murder trial.

Hopkinsville Police said Hairston shot Acree multiple times on Sharp Street. Two other people have been charged in the case.

Jaila Sherrod entered a guilty plea to facilitation of murder and tampering with physical evidence, with special prosecutor Zac Greenwell recommending five years in prison on each charge for a total of 10 years.

He said another stipulation to the guilty plea is the future cooperation with police, investigators, and prosecutors regarding her co-defendants.

Dekorian Daniel is charged with complicity to murder and has a pretrial conference in the case scheduled for April.
