Looking to improve communications before a possible trial, Circuit Judge Andrew Self granted special escort between Alexander Heck and Defense Attorney Michael Thompson Wednesday afternoon.

Heck is a Hopkinsville man charged with the March 2022 murder and tampering of physical evidence of a 15-month-old child, but Thompson acknowledged his client is also a Fort Campbell soldier.

The child, who was not related to Heck, but lived in the same dwelling, officially died of blunt-force trauma.

Thompson also confirmed that more than a terabyte of hard drive data remains sealed in the case, and that he and his client needed to meet more frequently in order to review the voluminous detail.

Heck’s next pretrial conference was set for May 8.

He was first arraigned February 22, 2023, under former Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling and lodged in Christian County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
