A man and woman were charged Thursday with trafficking drugs after an investigation involving several agencies over three months.
Hopkinsville Police say an SUV driven by 38-year-old Tonya Maples was stopped on Interstate 24 by the Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement and Special Investigations Unit in connection to information about a large amount of drugs being transported into Western Kentucky.
A suitcase was reportedly located in the vehicle with approximately 22 pounds of crystal meth.
Maples and her passenger 37-year-old Antonio Matlock were both arrested and charged with trafficking meth. Maples was also charged with failure to or improper signal, operating on a suspended or revoked license, and first-degree promoting contraband.
The investigation was conducted by the DEA Paducah Post, the Hopkinsville Police Department Special Investigations Unit, the Army Criminal Investigations Division, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, the Madisonville Police Department, and the Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement and Special Investigations Unit.
