Christian County Grand Jury Returns Multiple Indictments for Burglary and Wanton Endangerment

The Christian County Grand Jury returned several indictments from its Friday session including on charges of burglary and wanton endangerment.

A true bill was returned on 19-year old Gabriel Brewington, of Hopkinsville, on five counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. The charges stem from February 4 when police said Brewington accidentally fired a shot that went through a door of a home he was in on Gale Lane and then hit a bedroom window of another home with people inside. Upon further investigation, police said the gun in Brewington’s possession was reported stolen.

Two indictments were returned on Michael Burns, of Hopkinsville, each charging him with third-degree burglary. The indictment alleges that Burns unlawfully entered the Dodge Store with the intent to commit a crime on January 18th and February 12th.

Timothy Roland, of Herndon, was indicted on a single count of third-degree burglary. He is accused of unlawfully entering Walmart with the intent to commit a crime on February 14th.

In a separate indictment, Roland was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and theft by deception over $500 under $1,000. On September 27th, the indictment alleges that Roland possessed and presented a forged check to Cayce Mill Supply for approximately $484 on an account that was not his to make a purchase.

A true bill was issued on Cory McKie, of Oak Grove, on charges of first-degree strangulation, first-degree criminal mischief, using restricted ammunition during a felony with no shots fired and fourth-degree assault causing minor injury from an incident that occurred on February 24th.

The grand jury indicted Elonzo Simmons, of Hopkinsville, on charges of leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid, operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked license, booster seat violations, and three counts of abandonment of a minor.

On August 28, according to Hopkinsville Police, Simmons hit a bicyclist, 36-year old Jenna Gray, on Morningside Drive and then fled the scene on foot leaving three children who were also injured in the vehicle. Gray and the three children were reportedly transported by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Health for treatment.

Marissa Joy, of Hopkinsville, was indicted on charges of third-degree burglary, fourth-degree assault – no visible injury, and third-degree criminal mischief after she allegedly assaulted a man who was working on an apartment on Koffman Drive on February 20th. Police also said the man reported he found his car tires had been punctured and were flat.
