Hopkinsville Kiwanis Gives $7,000 In Scholarships and Donations

The Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club is recognizing the hard work of eight students, who are members of the club’s sponsored leadership groups. Kiwanis President-Elect, Nikki Chamber says there are Key Clubs at all four high schools in the county.

click to download audioThe recipients were Christian County High School Seniors Myliyah Bradford and Aaron Johnson, Hopkinsville High School Seniors Madison Allen, Kylie Batts, and Caroline Payne, and University Heights Academy Seniors Evelyn Cotthoff, Gargi Shah, and Michelle Silas.

The club also presented checks to two organizations that work with youth in Christian County. Special Olympics Coordinator, LuAnn Diuguid says the donation couldn’t have come at a better time.

$1,500 was also donated to the Christian County Literacy Council. Director Francene Gilmer says she appreciates the continued support from the club.

click to download audioThe donations come after a successful golf scramble hosted by the organization last week. Kiwanis will soon be gearing up for its annual Warm the Children fundraising effort to purchase winter clothes for children in need.
