Man Charged With Firing A Gun And Biting An Officer

A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting a police officer and several counts of wanton endangerment Monday night.

Hopkinsville Police say 33-year-old Matthew Naylor took his brother’s handgun and fired it into the ceiling then fought his brother over the gun leading to a possible broken nose and ribs.

He then reportedly hit his mother in the face as she attempted to break the fight up.

Police say when they arrived he would not put down his juvenile son and then attempted to jump out of a window before being tased.

As he was being carried by officers he allegedly bit one of them and caused one to fall down and injure his knee.

Police say while transporting him to jail, he vomited and struck his head against the partition in the vehicle.

Naylor is charged with second-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, resisting arrest, using restricted ammo during a felony (shot fired, no injury), kidnapping, third-degree assault of a police officer, retaliating against a participant in a legal process, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
