Hopkinsville Man Joins Kentucky State Police

A Hopkinsville man has joined the Kentucky State Police after serving for the Hopkinsville Police Department for several years.

Kentucky State Police say Tyler Hancock was welcomed at post two by Captain Derek Smith after completing academy training.

Smith says it will be an honor to serve alongside him and commended his achievements in the academy.

Hancock’s class received more than 1,000 hours of classroom and field study in constitutional law, use of force, weapons training, first aid, high-speed vehicle pursuit, criminal investigation, hostage negotiations, armed robbery response, sex crimes, bomb threats, and other courses.

Hancock served with the Hopkinsville Police Department for 9 years with some of the years as a public safety officer.
