Ashley Joiner, park manager for Lake Barkley State Resort Park, tells the News Edge that swimming, and all, is now available at the public beach.
Open from 9 AM until 9 PM every day, the only contingency moving forward is if water quality testing brought poor results, or if another storm created a need for cleaning up debris.
The most recent closure was due in part of back-to-back storms, as well as the repair of an emergency phone line. Once both were complete, Joiner said the Trigg County Health Department conducted their inspection and cleared the opening — which happened Friday.
Saturday’s Fourth of July weekend festival will begin at 3 PM with games, bouncers, food and beer.
Fireworks for the nation’s 248th birthday will start around 9 PM.
