Effective Wednesday, officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet have closed KY 272 (Caledonia Road) in Trigg County — due to difficult repairs of a sinkhole.
The Trigg County Highway maintenance crew had hoped to keep the roadway open to one lane, however, as the sinkhole was being excavated, the crew found the opening extended under the pavement — forcing the roadway to close.
This is near the 5.5 mile point, between Cliffwood Drive and Glenwood Mill Road.
There will be no marked detour. However, motorists may self-detour around this closure via KY 1585 (Montgomery Road) to U.S. 68, or via KY 1253 (Hardy Road), KY 525 (New Hope Road), and KY 139 (South Road).
This closure is expected to be in place at least until Wednesday afternoon.
