Hopkinsville’s primary community theater company Campanile Productions is bringing a new spectacular rendition of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” to the Historic Alhambra Theater.

Tickets are on sale now to four performances from August 8-11.

An irresistible family musical about Joseph, Israel’s favorite son, it boasts lyrics by Tim Rice and music from Andrew Lloyd Webber. The story is based on the “coat of many colors” of Joseph from the Bible’s Genesis chapter.

The Narrator and the Children’s Chorus tell the story of Joseph and his ever-so-jealous brothers, and it features a variety of musical genres, lots of dancing, and plenty of laughs. This show is all about being playful, silly, and of course, as flashy as that technicolor coat.

Director Anna Beth Riggs said the cast and crew have been working hard to put together the production for the community, and that it will be a “hilarious, zany, and over-the-top show” for Hopkinsville.

She also noted it’s been “the perfect way to spend the summer,” and will be the perfect summer night out for the audience.

The cast of Campanile’s Joseph is made up of company veterans with a few new faces, particularly in the Children’s Chorus. The talented group of elementary-aged children have been meeting for their own rehearsals separate from the adult cast to learn their roles. They have recently joined the adult cast in these last few weeks before the performance to put all the pieces together.

Guests are encouraged to dress up in their “flashiest” attire in celebration of the occasion.

Tickets to the three evening performances and one matinee performance can be purchased at campanileproductions.com.

The Saturday evening performance will be accompanied by a special Campanile Cabaret in celebration of the production company’s 15th year of operations.

Tickets will be sold at the door as available, but guests are highly encouraged to order online ahead of time.
