Like many events over the years that have fallen to the wayside, the Kelly Little Green Men Days was once a beloved, local tradition to highlight the crazy story of August 21, 1955.
The tradition made a small return when the Hopkinsville-Christian County Convention and Visitors Bureau hosted an Alien Invasion Wednesday afternoon. Amy Rogers, who serves as executive director, said she was proud to host the event.
Brandenburg resident Geraldine Sutton Stith is one of the closest living relatives to those who experienced the incident. She was excited to attend the inaugural event.
As 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of the incident, Stith said the Hopkinsville event has the possibility of going all out to celebrate the milestone.
Dewey Edwards, founder of Paranormal Research Institute and author of ‘Eye in the Sky,’ was in attendance. The book mentions various alien encounters, including the famed Kelly incident.
The event also featured a costume contest for pets and people and a showing of the famed 1980s movie E.T., loosely inspired by the Kelly Green Men incident.
