A Clarksville man was charged after he reportedly led law enforcement on a pursuit from a DUI checkpoint in Oak Grove Friday night.

Kentucky State Police say an SUV failed to stop at their checkpoint on Kentucky 115 and then fled leading them on a pursuit. The pursuit reportedly went down Azalea Drive and then back through the checkpoint where spikes were used to deflate two of the SUV’s tires.

Police say the pursuit came to an end near the state line after troopers used a precision immobilization technique causing the SUV to run off the road.

The driver 38-year-old Brandon Burney then reportedly attempted to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody.

During the pursuit, Police say the SUV collided with a state trooper’s car and a Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy’s vehicle.

Burney was arrested and charged with DUI, speeding, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree criminal mischief, possession of marijuana, and several traffic violations.
