A voicemail threat led to two schools being put on high alert in Christian County Tuesday morning.

School district spokeswoman Johnna Brown said they discovered the threat, which led to Hopkinsville High School and Indian Hills Elementary School being put on high alert.

Parents and buses dropped off students like normal but were directed to the gym as authorities investigated the threat.

Brown said the threat appears to be a “swatting” incident that comes from sources outside of the area often targeting multiple schools with a generic threat.

Hopkinsville Police said the investigation is ongoing, but nothing suspicious or out of place was found.

Shortly after the first threat Police say a student at Hopkinsville Middle School received a suspicious call that led to that school being put on high alert as well but no threat was found.
