The Christian County Literacy Council will be having a ribbon cutting on Thursday morning for a new book vending machine.
The event will be held at 9:30 on Thursday morning at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Visitor’s Center at 1730 East Ninth Street.
Literary Council Executive Director Francene Gilmer said the vending machine came through a donation.
click to download audioNaming the machine is part of a contest with teachers in the county with the winner receiving a monetary prize to use in their classroom.
The vending machine will be stocked with books for elementary school students who will use tokens earned through their schools to get their books.
If students read three books, they have a chance to get a fourth for free.
