A major non-profit organization in south western Kentucky is seeking its next leader.
Betsy Bond, current executive director for United Way of the Pennyrile, confirmed to the News Edge Wednesday that she’s eyeing retirement, and as such, her position has been publicly posted to gauge interest and vet potential candidates before interviews begin.
Based on experience and availability, the post pays between $50,000 and $65,000 annually. Bond, and future directors, must answer to a Board of Directors and its chair, manage an office staff, and generally serve as the organization’s compass for its missions, goals and objectives.
Among one of the job’s biggest responsibilities, outside of public transparency, is the annual fundraising campaign — which goes to assist more than a dozen non-profit organizations in Trigg, Christian and Todd counties.
Requirements include:
— A bachelor’s degree in non-profit organizations, business administration, management, marketing, public relations, finance, or other related field, though on-the-job experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis
— At least five years experience with a non-profit or social service agency, which includes at least three years of supervisory experience
— Experience in fundraising and donor relations, while working with volunteers
— Expertise in business management, budgeting and analyzing financial data, managing human resource functions and the supervision of employees
— Strong and effective oral and written communication skills, organizational skills and computer skills
— And the ability to handle numerous assignments simultaneously
Preferences include:
— A minimum of three years experience with United Way
— And experience in marketing/public relations
The job also has considerable physical demands, can require management of an erratic, flexible schedule, and involves frequent use of a personal vehicle.
