Christian County Fiscal Court and its magistrates used Tuesday morning’s regular session to enter in the mix for a handful of grant opportunities, befitting the growth of a Pennyrile mountain bike trail, and the remodeling of Western Hills Public Golf Course.
Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam and Pennyrile Area Development District’s Amy Frogue noted one grant application for the trail — to be located in the northern part of the county — is already off and showing promise.
Another Cabinet for Economic Development grant, Gilliam said, could be valued at up to $250,000 for the golf course, and would involve the construction of a restroom, golf cart storage and other needed amenities.
Frogue said grants for both of these projects do come with contingencies.
In other court news:
— Gilliam was approved to sign a “right of entry” write for Fort Campbell and its leadership, who are seeking rights to use county and City of Hopkinsville properties for upcoming urban warfare training.
— Magistrates also approved the transfer of two travel trailers, once they are vacated, to Randy Graham and Christian County Emergency Management.
Gilliam said Emergency Management may not keep them for long, allowing other parties to inquire.
They previously came from FEMA and provided shelter for storm victims.
