Leadership from the Kentucky Magistrates & Commissioners Association announced Thursday that it has chosen Christian County as the recipient of the 2024 KMCA Children’s Shoe Drive.
In its 10th year of operation, the program has impacted thousands of the Commonwealth’s school children.
At this year’s Annual KMCA Spring Conference, donations surpassed 300 new pairs of children’s shoes and more than $12,000, all of which came from association members and partnerships.
With these donations, an additional 450 pairs of shoes were purchased — all being donated to Christian County Schools.
Shoe delivery and a donation presentation will take place at 10 AM Wednesday, October 2, in the Freedom Elementary School Gymnasium. Christian County Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam recently lauded District 5 Magistrate and former Hopkinsville Mayor and Police Chief Rich Liebe, who is currently the president-elect of the KMCA Board of Directors.
Liebe represents Christian County on the board, and helped raise the funding for the footwear.
