Man Charged With Assaulting An Oak Grove Officer

A Clarksville man was charged with assaulting a police officer during an arrest on Winners Way Thursday.

Oak Grove Police say they were called for 45-year-old Christopher Northington, who had been given a trespass warning to stay away from the business due to a previous incident.

When they tried to arrest him, he reportedly pulled away and started fighting the officers. Police say he was tased and taken into custody but continued to fight with officers as he was being walked to the car.

One of the officers reportedly suffered scratches during the fight.

Northington was checked out by EMS before being taken to jail on charges of second-degree criminal trespassing, third-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, and second-degree criminal mischief.
