Even though the Jennie Stuart Health Board was included in the Committee of the Whole’s Thursday night agenda, the Board of Trustees chose not to attend the meeting and instead sent a letter to the Hopkinsville City Council.
Steve Keel, the Chairman of the Committee of the Whole, read a statement from the Board of Trustees for the public concerning the possible sale of the local hospital to Deaconess Health System.
click to download audioIn the letter dated October 10, Board Chair Leslie Carroll expressed gratitude to the Committee of the Whole for inviting the Jennie Stuart Health Board of Trustees to discuss the potential affiliation with Deaconess Health System.
Carroll stated that they are eager to engage with the community about the long-term opportunities they envision for Jennie Stuart. He said while they look forward to discussing their proposed partnership with Deaconess in more detail, they are unable to join the Committee of the Whole proceedings.
Carroll invited the Council to join them for an open meeting at Jennie Stuart Health in the coming weeks (with details to come) to discuss how this important next step would allow the organization to accelerate its mission to deliver exceptional healthcare for their communities well into the future.
