A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting his girlfriend on Park Avenue in Hopkinsville Thursday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say they were called there after a woman called and left the phone line open, and dispatch could hear yelling in the background.
After further investigation, police say 25-year-old Xavier Hernandez had gotten into a fight with his girlfriend and punched her and choked her.
He was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault and second-degree strangulation.
