A weak La Niña is expected to impact winter weather conditions this year.

Kentucky Mesonet’s Outreach Manager and Meteorologist Shane Holinde recently broke down the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s 2024-25 winter outlook with Your News Edge.

Holinde added that the period from December 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025, could see above to slightly above-average precipitation, along with above-normal temperatures.

He also shared what is considered normal temperatures for western Kentucky during the winter.
