Freddie Wayne Hoy, age 74, of the Roaring Spring community of Trigg County, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024, at his home.
He was born on July 7, 1950, in the small town of Munford, TN, one of eight children and the eldest son of the late R.C. and Virginia Smith Hoy. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Roberts, and a brother, Billy Joe Hoy.
Freddie spent over 50 years at the helm of his own concrete construction business, a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. He founded his business in his hometown of Munford and later relocated it to Clarksville, TN, during the 1980’s construction boom.
Freddie and his wife Tonja resided in Woodlawn, TN, until buying a farm in Roaring Spring, KY, where they built their dream log cabin. Freddie enjoyed cooking BBQ and was passionate about pulling horses and coon hunting, showcasing his strong pair of horses and his talented coon hound. He was also recognized as a skilled wheeler and dealer, always ready to make a trade or strike a deal.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Tonja Glick Hoy of Roaring Spring, KY; his children, Chad Hoy (Michelle), Tim Steppe, Amanda Peck (Ryan), and Cliff Hoy; eight grandchildren, Jacob Hoy, Jacie Dee Hoy, Jaxson Hoy, Kate Steppe, Alex Steppe, Trevor Hoy, Garrett Peck, and Makenzie Hoy; sisters, Judy Dillard and Mary Nell McCarver; and brothers, Tommy Hoy, Donnie Hoy, and Terry Lee Hoy.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 16, 2024. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM with Bro. Nate Miller officiating.
