Over the next few months, the Cadiz-Trigg Planning & Zoning Commission will be keeping a close watch on developments surrounding the community’s overwhelming decision to allow medical marijuana distribution and cultivation to take place in the city and county.
During Tuesday’s meeting, commissioners discussed the recent lottery selections made for dispensaries in each region, which saw three Eddyville businesses and one Oak Grove business chosen for this area.
Jim Mullen, along with current chairman Mike Heffington, noted south western Kentucky’s future in the cultivation and distribution business could take an interesting turn.
Heffington also said more clarity needs to come on the lottery.
Ken Culwell, fellow commissioner, noted that this is the third major issue that’s been discussed by the body in the 15-plus years — alongside large solar installations and alcohol sales — and the precedent has been deference to the fiscal court.
Chappell Wilson said that “no action needed to be taken at this time,” as more details needed to develop.
