Virginia Lynn Albracht, age 66, of Hopkinsville, passed away at home on Saturday, November 30, 2024. Graveside Services will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Riverside Cemetery with Rev. Dan Huck officiating and burial to follow. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Lynn was born in Manhasset, Long Island, New York on November 27, 1958, the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Greer Hobson and the late David Lea Sturges, Sr. She was of the Christian faith and a homemaker. She had previously worked as a journalist for the Kentucky New Era, Editor of the United States Information Agency (USIA), and she was a published author. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her sister, Susan Sturges.
Survivors include her mother, Betty Hobson of Hopkinsville; her daughter, Stephanie (Kennith Brent) Layne of Johnson City, TN; her son, James Lea Albracht of Johnson City, TN; her two brothers, David L. Sturges, Jr. of Hopkinsville, Bill (Carolyn) Sturges of Owensboro, KY; and her grandson, Bronson Layne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Boy Scouts of America, the National Alliance of Mental Illness, or the Centerville (Ohio) City Schools Orchestra Program.
