Doris Manning, 73, of Hopkinsville

Doris Renee Manning, age 73 of Hopkinsville, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024, at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville, TN of natural causes. The family has chosen cremation with a Celebration of Life to be held later in April. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family with the care of their loved one. 

Mrs. Manning was born on April 3, 1951, in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles Carl Johnson, Sr., and Jennie Mae Reynolds Johnson. Affectionately known as Nana, she was a strong faith believer, a member of the Life Tabernacle, a wonderful wife, and an amazing mother, and her door was always open for anyone. Doris spent her time taking care of the home and her family. She was certified and employed through the state as a caregiver. She was an artist and was awarded the humanitarian award from the State of Kentucky. She firmly believed in supporting and donating to the Hopkinsville Police Department and Hopkinsville Fire Department. Doris was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Watkins Manning, Sr.; her son, Gary W. Manning, Jr.; her brothers, Charles Carl Johnson, Jr., Murray Johnson; and her sisters, Christine Walker and Diane Winmon.  

Survivors include her daughters, LaTessa R. Smith of Broken Arrow, OK, and LaRayna C. Manning-Perez of Hopkinsville, KY; her sister, Carolyn Cason Parker of Charles County, Maryland; her thirteen grandchildren; and her twenty great-grandchildren, with another due in January.
