Bro. Bermont “Gene” Johnson, age 86, of Hopkinsville, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Grace Ministries at 720 N. Elm Street, Hopkinsville, KY 42240, with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Church. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Brother Johnson was born in Trigg County, KY on May 18, 1938, the son of the late Lamont and Lois Keith Johnson. Brother Gene was a pastor and founder of Grace Ministries for over 30 years, he was also a pastor for other churches in Christian County totaling his ministers for over 50 years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Dotson and Hayden Johnson. His sister, Margie Glover.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Twana Duke Johnson of Hopkinsville; his daughters, Dana Gene White (Allan) of Hopkinsville, Melanie McPherson (Jamie) of Hopkinsville, and Misty Owen (Jeff) of Lewisburg, KY; his brothers, Gerald Johnson of Hopkinsville, and Merrill Johnson of Hopkinsville; his sister, Deanna Lang of Clearwater, FL; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
