Morning Snow Results In Slick Roads, Numerous Wrecks

Many area roads were left with a coating snow early Sunday morning when a round of snow passed through the region.

The National Weather Service says up to a half of snow fell in the area in some spots, with strong winds and cold temperatures forcing the cancellation of some church services this morning.

Your News Edge’s John Godsey says there were numerous snow-related accidents around the area Sunday morning.

click to download audioAn extended period of cold temperatures are expected with below freezing temperatures through Thursday. High temperatures will only reach the 10’s and 20’s with overnight lows in the single digits through Tuesday. Wind chills of 0 to -8 degrees are expected tonight. Temperatures climb into the upper 20’s and lower 30’s by Wednesday and above freezing on Thursday.

This event is expected to be longer and colder than the last cold snap that moved through the area. Fortunately however no winter storms are on the horizon.
