Jimmy Douglas Mayes, age 74, of Hopkinsville, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at his home of natural causes. The family has chosen cremation, with a Graveside Committal Service with full military honors to be held at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Bro. Brandon Boone officiating and burial to follow. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Jimmy was born in Hopkinsville on January 27, 1950, the son of the late Douglas Lewis Mayes and Janie Irene Stone Mayes. He retired from civil service at Ft. Campbell. Jimmy was an educator and instructor. He was a proud veteran of the US Army and Navy and attended Edgewood Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Ann Barnes, and his brothers, Donnie and Bobby Mayes.
Survivors include his brother, Calvin Mayes of Hopkinsville; his one niece, and six nephews.
